An original ink illustration prototype on paperboard by listed American artist and educator Harry Lee Gadbury (Ohio, born 1890). The piece depicts two young pirates standing onboard a wooden raft floating at sea. A tall sail stands billowing in the wind above the raft; to its center, a perforated line and illegible note are written in graphite, seemingly an area where an advertisement or imagery could have been inserted. An area of whiteout has been applied to one of the figures. The piece is signed in black to the lower left. The piece is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation. An illegible blindstamp is printed to the upper right.

Condition

- board is quite yellowed and has light accretion edges. Pinholes to corners from previous hanging. Light creasing and ripping to edges.
