Carved Wood African Sculpture of a Female Figure with a Snake
Item Details
A vintage carved wood African sculpture, depicting a female figure with a snake. The sculpture is made from a dark, unknown type of wood, with a very dark stained finish. The barefoot female figure is depicted wearing only a knee-length textured skirt. Her hair is worn in coils on top of her head, and a large snake encircles her lower body. She holds her left arm down by her side, and her right arm is bent, with a closed fist, which appears to have once held an object. The underside is marked ‘R35’, otherwise no maker’s marks or signature.
