Pair of Hand-Colored Etching of Agricultural Scenes
Item Details
A pair of hand-colored etchings on paper after original original antique paintings of agricultural scenes. The first is a 1917 hand-colored etching after an original 1917 painting by an artist initialed ‘HD,’ titled The Reapers. The piece’s plate was etched by English artist Herbert Dicksee (1862 – 1942). The second is a very large hand-colored mezzotint etching printed from the original plates etched by G. Paterson after an original painting by well-listed English artist John Frederick Herring, Sr (1795 – 1865), titled _An English Farm Yard). Both prints have artists’ names and print information printed to the lower margins. They are both presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.
Condition
- Farm Yard print has extensive ripping, discoloration, and warping to margins. A large area of water damage marks the upper left corner. The Reapers has light warping and discoloration to margins.
