1878 Morgan Silver Dollar 7 Over 8 Feathers VAM 38

An 1878 Morgan silver dollar double tail feathers (seven stamped over original eight tail feathers). The eight tail feather reverse was a design error in the first issues. The economic decision was to correct this by stamping over the error, thus resulting in the double feathers. This example shows the 7/5 version number 38 on the VAM list, and is clear to even the naked eye. Good condition with nice details. Designer: George T. Morgan. Weight: approximately 26.73 grams. Diameter: 38.1 mm. Composition: 90% silver 10% copper.
