An antique Hamburg American 8 day ‘ting tang’ mantel clock, circa 1880. This antique mantel clock with a ‘ting tang’ striking sound features a walnut cabinet, foliate carvings to the top, an ornate brass carrying handle, carved side columns, and bracket with brass feet. The clock’s face features fan shaped spandrels, thin black hands, and Arabic numerals to the white etched face. The clock’s mechanism is hallmarked with the ‘crossed arrows’, the best known symbol of the Hamburg American Watch Factory. The rear door features a brass grille lined with the original green cloth and a paper label that reads ‘No. 3114/Ting Tang’.
