Vintage 10K Yellow Gold Military College Class Ring

A vintage 10K yellow gold 1955 class ring from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. The ring has a wide shank and the top has a palm tree motif, with two oval state seals below and the year numerals ‘55’ to either side. ‘The Military College of S.C. – 1842’ is in raised lettering around the oval center. One side of the ring has a crossed sword and rifle, with ‘The Citadel’ on a banner above. The other side has crossed flags, with a downward facing arrow and the Star of the West above, symbolizing the firing of the first shots of the Civil War from the Citadel in 1861. The interior of the ring is stamped ‘BALFOUR 10K’ and is engraved with an indistinct personal inscription.
