Hand-Colored Etching after Robert William Buss

A hand-colored etching with areas of mezzotint printed from the original 1849 plate etched after an original painting by very well-listed English artist Robert William Buss, titled Watt’s First Experiment on Steam. The plate was engraved by an artist named James Scott. It depicts a young James Watt, who would eventually invent the Watt steam engine, experimenting with a small tea kettle. The artists’ names, print information, and a quote from a biography of Watt are printed to the lower margin. The print is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.
