Bentwood and Cane Rocking Horse

A bentwood and cane rocking horse. This piece is constructed entirely of bentwood and rattan in a highly stylized rocking horse design, the ‘head’ suggested by the curve of the wood and the presence of handlebars rather than by any facial features or other decoration. It has a saddle-shaped woven cane seat with an arched seat back and a bentwood rocker base. This piece has no apparent maker’s marks.

Condition

- to fair; loose lashing between back left leg and rocker base; some rattan loss; minor scuffs and fading; general light wear.
