Pair of 19th Century Engravings after David Wilkie Paintings

Item Details

A pair of original mid-19th century hand-colored engravings on paper after original oil paintings on canvas by very well-listed Scottish painter David Wilkie (1785 – 1841), titled Blind-Man’s Buff and Distraining for Rent. The prints were engraved by English artist Abraham Raimbach. The first depicts a busy interior room where a blind-folded man waves his arms frantically as figures scramble to get out of his way, and the second depicts a bailiff coming to collect possessions from a poor farming family. The artists’ names and print information are printed to the lower margin of each. The prints are presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.
