A Tibetan area rug. This plush wool rug, likely made by Tibetan weavers in exile in Nepal or India, is hand-knotted in a palette of burgundy, midnight blue, tan, and emerald. It features ribbons in different colors, intertwined among images of leaves, one large flower, and abstract motifs over a burgundy field. Framing the field are compound borders in midnight blue and burgundy. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at top and bottom with ivory wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
