Antique Bronze Marly Horse Sculpture After Coustou

A mid 19th century bronze Marly Horse after Coustou. The handsome sculpture is after one of a commissioned pair of marble horses by Louis XV flanking the horse pond at Chateau de Marly by sculptor, Guillame Coustou the Elder (1677-1746). The sculpture features a horse actively rearing as a man in loin cloth holds the reins, attempting to gain control of the horse. Unmarked.

- male figure is a bit loose in base; crop is missing from left hand
