A Metropolitan Museum of Art reproduction of an Egyptian hippo The piece is taken after the Egyptian faïence hippopotamus commonly referred to a ‘William’. The body of the blue ceramic hippo is decorated with images of lotus blossoms and marsh flowers. The hippo stands on four light pink feet and is marked to the underside, ‘MMA’.
