A set of hand colored engravings after Octavian Dalvinmart’s The Costume of Turkey. This set incldues three engravings, each depicting a figure wearing a different traditional garment from Turkey. The first print depicts a man holding a red stool wearing a green robe and white hat. The top right corner is marked in-plate ‘55,’ the bottom left corner features Dalvimart’s name, and the bottom center is marked in-plate ‘Published January 1, 1802 by W. Miller, Old Bond Street London.’ The second print depicts a figure carrying vessels and wearing a green robe, a black nose and mouth covering, and a white veil. The top right corner is marked in-plate ‘22,’ the bottom left features Dalvimart’s name, the bottom right features the name of the engraver, William Poole, and the bottom center is marked with information on the publisher and the date 1802. The third print depicts a man wearing a green robe with a yellow shawl wrapped around his head. The print is marked to the upper right corner ‘9,’ the bottom left features Dalvimart’s name, the bottom right features the name of the engraver, William Poole, and the bottom center is marked with information on the publisher and the date 1802. All three prints are housed in black wooden frames under glass.
Condition
discoloration and wrinkling to all three prints; chipping and wear to all three frames; warping to the backing of the prints.
