Six Colored Copper Engravings from _A New Work of Animals_ 1811

A collection of six colored copper engravings from the publication A New Work of Animals by English painter, illustrator, and etcher of animals Samuel Howitt (1756-1822). This set is comprised of the following plates; The Bear and Two Travellers, Dog in The Manger, Untitled_, Sow and Wolf_, Wolf and Crane, and Porcupine and Snakes. Each print is marked Howitt or Howitt del to the lower left. Two of the prints are marked London Pub: March 1810 by Edwd Orme, Printseller to the King, Engraver and Publisher Bond Street, corner of Brook Street beneath each title. The remaining prints are marked Published Jan./Aug./Oct. 1809 by Edward Orme Printseller to the King Engraver and Publisher Bond Street corner of Brook St. London. There are visible plate marks on each print. One of the prints has the watermark W. Turner & Sons, and another the watermark Whatman 1807 and three have a watermarked date, 1819. These prints are unframed and await your choice of deployment.

Condition

- the prints have yellowing on the edges consistent with age. They have been removed from their original binding and have one slightly uneven edge.
