Six Colored Copper Engravings from _A New Work of Animals_ 1811

A collection of six colored copper engravings from the publication A New Work of Animals by English painter, illustrator, and etcher of animals Samuel Howitt (1756-1822). This set is comprised of the following plates; Sheep and Hunted Wolf., Wolf & The Lamb_, Baboon & Poultry, Hunted Beaver, Dog and The Wolf, and The Camel & Jupiter. Each print is marked Howitt or Howitt del to the lower left and Dubourg sculpt to two of the six prints. Three of the prints are marked London Pub: Sept 1810 by Edwd Orme, Printseller to the King, Engraver and Publisher Bond Street, corner of Brook Street beneath each title. Two are marked Published July 1809 by Edward Orme Printseller to the King Engraver and Publisher Bond Street corner of Brook St. London. The remaining print is marked _London Pub: Jan. 1 1814 by Edwd Orme Printseller to the King, Engraver & Publisher Bond Str. corner of Brook Str. There are visible plate marks on each print. One of the prints has the watermark W. Turner & Sons, and another the watermark Whatman 1807. These prints are unframed and await your choice of deployment.

Condition

- the prints have yellowing on the edges consistent with age. They have been removed from their original binding and have one slightly uneven edge. One print, The Wolf & The Lamb has a torn edge.
