A signed limited edition aquatint etching on paper titled L’aube sur la colline by well-listed Japanese-born artist Shoichi Hasegawa (b. 1929). Portrayed with intricate white delineations against a background of gradated pastel colors, this abstract work features a sunlit hill crowded with trees, cars, and various buildings. The work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right. It is titled to the lower center and numbered 116 out of an edition of 160 to the lower left. The composition is presented under glass with red matting, and housed in a silver-tone wood frame. A label from Ellejay Art and Framing is present to the verso.

Born in Japan, Shoichi Hasegawa is a contemporary artist known for his painting and printmaking often featuring lyrical delineations and pastel palettes. He studied at the Kokuga Institute in Kyoto, then moved to Paris in 1961 where he worked at Atelier 17 with British artist Stanley William Hayter. His work has been collected by renowned institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Museum Fuji in Tokyo, among others.
