An oil painting on canvas titled Arroyo Vista by listed American artist Norman Yeckley (1914-1994). This work features a desert landscape with a winding dirt road in the central foreground, surrounded by grass, shrubbery, and cacti; large jagged rock formations are silhouetted against the sky in the background. No signature was found on the work. The composition is presented in a light brown wood frame with a metal name plate adhered along the lower border.
Born in Arizona, Norman Yeckley was raised in southern California and attended the Otis Art Institute and the Art Students League of Los Angeles under the tutelage of Dana Bartlett. He is known for his desert landscapes, many of which were painted for the W.P.A. in the 1930s.
Condition
- canvas verso has been painted with gesso; composition is loose in frame and needs securing; wear in frame includes scratches, finish loss, and stains scattered throughout.
