A handmade ceramic character figurine from Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales from Rye Pottery. This piece depicts the Doctor of Physic dressed in a hand-painted terracotta-colored robe and green hood. The Doctor is holding a blue medicinal bottle close to his face, while riding a white horse decorated with a blue bridle, saddle, and hooves, as well as a hand-painted blue floral design to the base. The underside is stamped, ‘Rye Pottery, Hand Made in England’ and marked to a label reading, ‘Rye Pottery, Canterbury Tales, The Doctor of Physic’.

- light wear to paint; some spots of light discoloration, especially to underside.
