Chinese Carved Hardwood Tea Table and Four Matching Stools

A Chinese carved hardwood tea table and four matching stools. This heavily hand carved hardwood tea table features a recessed top under glass, which contains a gold field decorated with eight inlaid and painted mother-of-pearl human figures in historical Chinese garb and inlaid and painted mother-of-pearl landscape vignettes including a monument and a potted blossoming peach tree seedling. Set into the hardwood border of the table top are eight sets of flowers and leaves with ten mother of pearl roundels dispersed evenly between them. The table top rests on a carved and pierced apron and cabriole legs atop paw feet. The six hardwood stools are carved in a matching design to the table with one stool stained darker than the others and a unique apron without pierced elements.
