A pair of dry point etchings by John Kelly (American, 1879 – 1962) titled Throw Net – Hawaii and Lei Makers – Hawaii. Throw Net depicts a man standing in shallow waters tossing a large fishing net into the sea. Lei Makers depicts a group of people sitting in the shade and stringing blossom to make leis. Each print signed in graphite to the lower right and titled to the lower left and each is mounted under glass with an off white mat in a black wooden frame that is wired for hanging. John Kelly was born in California and studied at the Johns Hopkins School of Art. He lived and worked in Hawaii and is known for his paintings and etchings of Hawaiian people and landscapes.
Condition
- toning to both images and mats; light wear to frames; small rips to paper backing of each frame.
