Item Details
Acrylic, Ink, paper
An etching on paper by well-listed Brazilian artist Arthur Luis Piza (born 1928) and published by Jacqueline de Champvallins, Paris. It features a muted palette of browns, beige, and red, with areas of raised stippling in a brighter red coloration. The composition is formed of organic shapes that resemble bodily organs, and are reflected vertically on the lower portion of the picture plane before being cut off by the mat. This print was created using a special method of gouging thick copper plates to create a relief when printed, and using hand-made inks. The publisher’s name is embossed to the lower left corner. It is presented behind a mat and glass in a silver tone frame that is wired for hanging.
