Mola Panel of Hummingbirds
Item Details
A mola cloth panel. Mola are shirt panels in the traditional dress of the Kuna people in Panama and Columbia. This mola panel departs from the heavily geometric patterning often seen and has a more representational style. It is made using hand-stitching, reverse appliqué, and embroidery of brightly colored fabric to depict stylized hummingbirds drinking from a large orange flower. There are other flowers and leaves surrounding them. It is presented behind a layered mat and glass in a gold tone frame that has wire to the verso for hanging.
