A set of sterling silver flatware in the Francis I pattern by Reed & Barton. This Renaissance-inspired set was designed by Ernest Meyers and first introduced in 1907. Each item features an ornate handle decorated with sweeping scrolls, leaves, and fruit. The set includes approximately 167 pieces including fourteen salad forks, thirteen dinner forks, sixteen oyster forks, twelve ice cream forks, twelve demitasse spoons, fourteen teaspoons, twelve oval soup spoons, twelve iced tea spoons, twelve flat handle butter spreaders, fourteen hollow handled dinner knives, sixteen hollow handled steak knives, a hollow handle carving set, a pair of sandwich tongs, a punch ladle, a soup ladle, a gravy ladle, a cream ladle, three solid serving spoons, two sugar shell spoons, a jelly server, a cold meat serving fork, one pierced bon bon spoon, and assorted serving utensils. The handles are marked ‘Sterling Reed & Barton’ and the stainless steel knife blades are marked ‘Reed & Barton Mirrorstele Sterling Handle’ and ‘Reed & Barton Super Stainless’. The total approximate weight, excluding the hollow-handled items with stainless elements, is 168.045 ozt.
