A chromolithograph on paper titled Fontainebleau after a plate from from the 19th century publication Farbige Decorationen by German painter Ernst Ewald (1836-1904). This print depicts the private room of Marie Antoinette from the 18th century Fontainebleau Palace with elaborately paneled and painted walls and door, with a sculpture over the doorway. It is titled to the lower center and marked in the lower left as drawn by Richard Hendorf (1861-1939) and marked with the publisher’s information to the lower right. A card affixed to the verso states that the print is from Farbige Decorationen. This print is presented behind an embellished mat and glass in a gold tone frame that is wired for hanging.
Condition
- slight wear to corners of frame; stain to backing paper in lower right.
