An aquatint etching on paper titled O’er Snow Clad Pastures by Joseph Farquharson (Scottish, 1846-1935), executed in 1902. Heavy snow covers the barren landscape with defoliated trees casting thick shadows upon the ground. The aura from the moonlight peaks through the clouds just enough to reveal a flock of sheep crossing the through the land. Signed and dated in plate to the lower right, ‘J. Farquharson 1902.’ Inscribed to the lower margin, ‘Printed by J. Farquharson A. RuA.’; ‘Enter According to Act of Congress in the year 1903. The Fine Art Society (Lim) in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington.’; and ‘Etched by W. Hole, RA, R&E.’ Presented with an off-white mat, under glass, and housed in a gilt and gesso beveled wood frame.

Condition

- scratches and marks to the frame throughout; discoloration to the matting; mounting in the frame is loose.
