A watercolor and gouache painting on paper of a still life by artist Susan Johnson. This Expressionist painting depicts a vibrant bouquet of flowers held in a foliate patterned pitcher, which is situated on a textural surface set against a backdrop of geometric shapes. The composition is composed of loose pools of pigment reinforced by frenetic linework in a palette of red, yellow, blue and green tones. To the lower right corner of the composition is an artist signature, dated ‘7/25/94’. The painting is presented under glass beneath matting in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
