Hand-Colored Etching After Émile-Pierre Metzmacher's "La Cagale"

An early to mid 20th-century hand-colored etching on paper after the original 1886 painting by listed French artist Émile-Pierre Metzmacher (1815 – 1890) titled La Cagale. The piece depicts a young woman seated in the doorway of a European cottage, as a lute lay nearby and a small dog barks at her. The unsigned print is matted in tan and presented under glass in a wooden frame with decorative patterned veneer, fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning to mat and across center of print; acid burns to mat; mat and print are uneven inside frame; chips to frame veneer throughout, especially visible to lower left and right sides; no backing paper to frame; exposed nails to frame backing; overall wear and dust to frame.
