Item Details
An antique William and Mary walnut and featherbanded bureau on stand, late 17th century. The bureau features a rectangular top with slant facade featuring a drop down panel with burl walnut veneer, brass escutcheon, and ledge opening to rest on sliding rails. The panel opens to petite drawers with featherbanded trim, storage compartments, and a writing surface. Below the two aligned drawers above a full width drawer with featherbanded trim, hand-cut dovetail joinery, brass escutcheons, and ring pulls over a scalloped apron with drop finial. The secretary rises on tapered legs joined by a cross stretcher and terminating on ball feet. A key with tassel is included.
