Red Painted Rocking Chair

Item Details

A red painted wooden rocking chair. It has an arched crest rail, above vase and ball turned spindles resting on a center crosspiece and extending above the crest rail with a ball finial for each spindle. The stiles are thicker, also with a ball finial. It has two additional cross rails, for a total of three under the spindles, and hip supports over a wooden seat frame with added embossed cover. The tapered legs are connected with offset double box stretchers and to the runners. The entire piece has been painted bright red.

item shows spots of chipped paint, surface dents and scratches, and general wear that is consistent with age and past use.
