Chinese Hand Decorated Silk Hanging Scroll After Zhang Zeduan

Item Details

An East Asian hand decorated silk hanging scroll titled Along the River During the Qingming Festival after Song dynasty painter Zhang Zeduan (1085–1145). This landscape piece depicts a sweeping aerial view of a busy river town, with a crowd of people on a bridge, boats passing by and rooftops in the foreground. There are embroidered inscriptions to the right and left of the image, and ribbon ties for hanging and storage. The scroll has a serpentine stone base, and is housed in a decorative box with bone clasps.
