A collection of four hand-colored wood engravings. These fashion plates from Godey’s Lady’s Book depict women and girls gathered in social situations wearing the latest styles of the 1870’s. Two of the prints are marked below as by the engraving firm ‘Kimmel & Forster N.Y.’, and all four have the date of the issue printed along the lower margin. All are presented behind mats and glass in metallic toned framed that have hanging hardware to the verso.
Condition
- creases, rips, toning, and foxing throughout prints; one piece has shifted out of place beneath mat; seams in center of prints, as pages have been removed from a book.

- measures one larger frame; visible image measures 10.25" W x 7.75" H; one smaller frame measures 15.0" W x 13.0" H x 0.5" D; visible image measures 10.75" W x 8.75" H.
