A hand-knotted Persian Kashan area rug. The rug features a central medallion in dark purple, cream, light blue, cream, and red on a deep red field. The field is populated by floral and vine patterns in a complementary palette with embellished spandrels. The field is enclosed by a compound border that features a pattern of floral palmettes and vines in a complementary palette. The rug has an overcast edge and a short fringe to either end.
