A Japanese Satsuma Style Ceramic Vase

A ceramic Japanese satsuma style vase. This vase features an outdoor scene with a courtesan in a kimona. The courtesan’s obis, tied in front with a large knot is depicted as oversized. The opposite side of the vase features a painted scene of yellow and blue iris flowers with green stems on a white background. The front and back are divided by a band of glossy black paint, including the looped handles and the lip, neck and foot. The vase is unmarked.
