An offset lithograph poster after an egg tempera painting by Andrew Wyeth (American, 1917 – 2009) titled Dr. Syn. It depicts a skeleton dressed in a naval officer’s jacket from the early 19th century and seated on a stool in what appears to be a ship’s cabin. Printed beneath the image is ‘Andrew Wyeth / Self Portrait / Dr Syn’. Dr. Syn is a fictional character popular in the first half of the 20th century. In books and a film he was portrayed as a gentleman who became a pirate and hero. The poster is mounted under glass in a black metal frame that is wired for hanging.

- foxing throughout backing board; chips in glass at top and bottom left corners; debris beneath glass.
