Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Northwest Persian Rug

A hand-knotted northwest Persian area rug. This rectilinear wool rug is rendered in a palette of sapphire, peach, deep midnight blue, cream, and shades of brown. It begins with a large-scale hexagonal medallion grounded in sapphire and enclosing a stylized herati pattern. The medallion rests on a blush herati field cornered with deep, wide spandrels, which are grounded in cream. Framing the field are two borders, including a primary border featuring a meandering vine pattern. The rug is finished at each end with short cotton wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
