Early 20th Century S. Fox & Co Umbrella with Sterling Silver Embellishment

Item Details

An early twentieth century umbrella by S. Fox & Co Ltd of London. This features a black fabric shade with braided black cord, and a wooden stem and handle. This culminates in an attached handle cap composed of repoussé sterling silver, that is marked with the lion passant for sterling, the leopard’s head for London, and a worn date mark. One rib is marked ‘Paragon’, a trademark first established in 1913.

Condition

- some minor surface wear with faint markings and minimal tarnishing; strings loose to the fabric that ties around the closed umbrella; opens and closes.
