A pair of serigraphs on paper of original gouache paintings titled War Dance and Hoop Dance by Navajo artist Harrison Begay (1914 – 2012). Signed in plate and titled to the lower margin, the prints depict Native Americans taking part in tradition dances and wearing their dance attire. Mounted under a single layer of off-white matting, each print is presented in a stained wood frame. A wire for hanging purposes and a gallery decal are present to the verso of each frame. Begay, Haskay Yahne Yah is best known for his paintings of Navajo Diné figures and other native scenes.
Condition
- marks and stains to mat at left of one print also with joint of frame loose to left; marks to glass of second print; nicks and wear to both frames.
