19th Century Wax Portrait Of The Duke Of Wellington

An Early Victorian relief molded wax portrait medallion depicting a profile bust of the Duke of Wellington, circa 1840, presented in a circular compressed wood frame with finely embossed metal trim and gold tone metal mat. To the verso is the maker’s label which reads ‘Mr. D. Morrison Gem Engraver – Miniature Modeller.’ ’ To their R.H. The Duke’s v Duchefs of Gloucester, The Duchefs of Cambridge and the Princefs Augusta.’

Condition

Wax shows discoloration and small dark residue flecks. Portrait and gold inset are loose in the frame.
