A stylistic oil on canvas figural showing two string musicians against a tonalist background. Signed lower right, ‘J. Roybal’ for Joyce Roybal (American, b. 1955), a listed artist, and painted circa 1990. Roybal is renowned for his portrayal of what some call ‘Puffy People’, the childlike and playful characters that recur throughout his work and which are exemplified in this piece.
