Italian Baroque Style Bergere Arm Chair

Item Details

An Italian Baroque style bergere or arm chair, in deeply carved walnut and beech. The pierced-carved frame exhibits a tour-de-force of flowers, foliate scrolls, artichokes, fleur de lis and two putti, one at each arm support. The back is upholstered in three panels, over a loose seat cushion, all in a blue and yellow brocade. The chair rests on cabriole feet. Circa 1920-30.
