A pair of hand colored engravings after paintings by Francis Wheatley titled Hot Spiced Gingerbread, Smoking Hot and Round & Sound, Five Pence a Pound, Duke Cherries. Each print depicts a scene from Wheatley’s ‘Cries of London’ series. The signature, ‘F. Petitjean’, in graphite to the lower right of each is possibly that of the artist who colored the prints. The prints are each mounted under glass with an off-white mat in a gilt finish wooden frame that is wired for hanging.

Condition

- both images exhibit slight toning; damage to gold finish on frames and minor wear to frames front and back; backings are loosely taped to each frame.

- measures a single frame; image size of each is 10.0" W x 14.0" H.
