An antique Harper’s Weekly illustration and two vintage advertisements. This collection features the front cover of Harper’s Weekly no. 1649, published by Harper & Brothers on July 28, 1888; the cover features a large black-and-white illustration of a handlebar-mustached baseball player at bat, with the caption ‘’A Ball Or A Strike—Which?’—Drawn by T. de Thulstrup.—[See Page 330.]’ Also included is a color magazine advertisement for B. F. Goodrich’s P-F canvas shoes, featuring portraits of ‘Big League Baseball Stars on TV’ such as Yogi Berra, Ted Willians and Stan Musial; and a reproduction print with the color poster art for the Mae West films Belle of the Nineties and Every Day’s a Holiday.
Condition
- Some edge wear and page yellowing; bagged and boarded.
