An oil painting on canvas of a judicial figure by listed artist Peter Baumgras (1827 – 1904). This painting depicts a robed man in front portraiture, who stares forward with a slight smirk on his face against a darkened, brown background. The man wears a curled, white hairpiece with a jabot hanging from his neck. To the lower right corner of the composition is a dated artist signature, listed 1899. The painting is presented in a stained and bronze tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.

- moderate craquelure to surface; major inpainting to face and upper left side of portrait; moderate wear to surface of frame; staining to canvas verso.
