An oil and acrylic painting on canvas titled Do I have to Explain Everything to you from the series Skrapstractions 2013 – 2016 by well-listed New York / Los Angeles artist William Quigley (b. 1961). The work is unsigned; however, per the seller, the artist is willing to sign the piece upon request. It is housed in white wooden shadowbox frame handmade especially for this painting by New York artist Dan Meeks. The frame includes a highly reflective glass covering and is fitted with two D-ring hooks to the verso.
Quigley is widely known for his abstract compositions and celebrity portraits. He received his formal art education through the Philadelphia College of Art and Columbia University. His career was launched after graduation in 1985 when five of his works were exhibited in juxtaposition with Andy Warhol last shows “Images of a Child’s World” in 1985 at McNeil Gallery in Philadelphia. A “cultural catalyst”, his work was featured in the 2004 show ‘Life Styles of the Rich and Famous’. Later, he was honored by Vh1 as artist of the year in 2007 for charitable contributions. Quigley founded the AB Gallery in Los Angeles in 1994. Today his works can be found in numerous private and public collections.
