Handwoven and Hand-Knotted Persian Salt Bags
Item Details
A selection of Persian tribal salt bags. The two wool bags were made for shepherds to carry rock salt for their herds. One has a handwoven bagface featuring horizontal panels of geometric patterns; its palette leans toward red, orange, and ivory. The second bag is hand-knotted, featuring a traditional design of field and borders, in a palette of pink, sapphire, cream, and tangerine. The bags are unlabeled.
