Vintage Oak Hoosier Cabinet with Porcelain Enamel Surface

A vintage oak Hoosier cabinet with porcelain enamel countertop by G.I. Sellers of Elwood, Indiana. This oak piece bears metal hardware and latches, and the Sellers nameplate in the center top. The hutch features a tall cabinet to left that opens to reveals a metal flour sifter within. Two cabinet doors with patterned glazed glass panels open to two shelves above a roll-top section concealing interior storage with a circular bracket. Four distinctive waist drawers open just above the porcelain enamel counter space with galaxy black edging. The lower section features a wide drawer on the left above two cabinet doors opening to a large storage area, and a pull-out cutting board above four narrow drawers on the right. The entire structure rests on casters.

Sellers was the original manufacturer of the Hoosier style cabinet, beginning production in 1898 in Elwood, Indiana. Hoosier style cabinets remained a staple in American households until after World War II, when modern appliances rendered them largely obsolete.
