A chromolithograph on paper from the April 5th, 1900 edition of Vanity Fair titled Company Law by British cartoonist Sir Leslie Ward (1851-1922). This caricature of a ‘Mr. Justice Buckley’ depicts the judge behind the bench with an overly stern expression and sharp features. He is signing his book with a quill pen. The print is signed in plate with Ward’s pseudonym ‘Spy’. Printed to the lower margin is the title to the center and the lithographer’s name to the left. Above the imagery is printed ‘Vanity Fair’ to the left and the date to the right. It is presented behind a mat and glass in a gold tone and brown painted wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- mat burns to edges with slight toning; wear and minor nicks to frame.
