An antique Persian Sarouk Lilihan area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of madder red, periwinkle, midnight blue, and salmon. It features a classic Lilihan mirrored design incorporating sprays of flowers arched in boteh shapes, palmettes, stylized lancet leaves, and occasional florets over a madder red field. The field is framed by three borders, including a stylized herati main border over midnight blue. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with shorn fringe. Blue weft threads are visible on the underside. Unlabeled.
