Hand-Knotted Semi-Antique Persian Heriz Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique Persian Heriz area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in palette of cranberry, navy, pine, black, and ivory. It features a classic Heriz design beginning with a large, rectilinear star pendant medallion, which encloses a smaller star. The medallion rests on a cranberry-colored field populated with symmetrically arranged lancet leaves, palmettes, and flowers. Spandrels are deep, with phases in ivory, cranberry, and sapphire. The field is framed by compound borders. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at either end with warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
