Hand-Knotted Persian Seraband Mir-a-Boteh Area Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique Persian Seraband mir-a-boteh area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of midnight blue, vermillion, and cream. It begins with a midnight-blue field filled with small boteh. Unusual in a Seraband mir-a-boteh rug, the field is edged with an in-turned serrated, hooked border. This border and the field are framed by traditional wraparound compound borders, including a classic Seraband meander border over cream and meandering-carnation minor borders over vermillion. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
